This Autumn I’m asking my intermediate and upper-intermediate students to choose articles from the English version of El Pais and come to the class prepared to explain to the rest of the class what they read and what their opinion about it is. 

For intermediate Spanish students, there are loads of advantages to reading newspapers like the English El Pais:

1. Both the news content and translation are of a very high quality.
2. It’s useful to check your comprehension by reading the Spanish version of the article.
3. The news content will often be related to Spain and naturally of more interest to you.
4. The range of sections means there will always be something of interest for everyone.
